Radio was the first invention for fast mass communication. Radio inspired the TV and many other inventions. Radio started as am and now has developed into satellite radio. It was one of the first forms of entertainment in technology.

The iPhone was the first invention available to the public which merged wireless portable phone and complete internet access. It opened a new gateway for the possibilities of portable technology. I wish I had one.

Computers completely changed the world as we knew it 30 years ago. The world has become so so much more globalized since the invention of the computer and internet. I think the computer was one of the best inventions ever.

To me this picture is amazing. It is weird how we can have satellites in the middle of nowhere transmitting signals everywhere. I wonder "Who keeps track of all this". Are they getting all of their information from one or more sources?

This Picture just shows me how far we have come in technology. This TV is big and bubbly looking. And I know the picture, and sound was not very good. I can remember having one of these TV's as a child.

Part 2

This 10 min documentary was about the history and photography abilities in 1946. The video came with no sound, but did show some steps in how photos were produced in this time. The video showed scenes from different photo shoots, movies being made, and other random scenarios. It also showed the type of equipment they used to use, and how the pictures would turn out. Back in 1946 photography was also considered to be motion pictures, so the video also showed some of the advances in video like slow motion. The only thing I wish this video had was sound explaining some of the equipment and processes.

Three sources for free music downloads.
1.iTunes
2.www.Myspacemusic.com
3.www.amazon.com

Free Songs New Song
1. A Little More Country Than That by Easton Corbin was downloaded from iTunes.

Free Older Songs
1.Heathen(The Rays) by David Bowie was downloaded from Amazon.com
2.Detroit City by Alice Cooper was downloaded from Amazon.com.

Trying to find free music on the internet is not as easy as it may seem. Many of the websites advertise for free music, but it does not really end up being free. A few of some major sites like myspcae.com, amazon.com, and iTunes provide some free music, but it is not going to be the mainstream music you hear on the radio, or TV within the past few years. However, it is a great way to listen to music you may not have heard of before and widen musical ear.

lab 9

Pandora.com I would think is the most popular site of these four sites, but after visiting all of them is also the least impressive. Pandora allows you to search for music by genera or artist. When you find an artist it playa music from that artist but also other artist that might interest you. Pandora only allows you to skip a song a certain amount of times, so if you have already skipped a few songs and want to skip more, you can’t. With Pandora you’re stuck with what it gives you, all you can do is mute it which I find very irritating. The only thing good about Pandora is the music is continuous. It also gives you the option to buy the music that you listen to.

Lastfm.com operates like Pandora in the way that it gives you the option to search by genera, artist, and it plays artist other that what you what. However, lastfm is better in the fact that it is continuous play, and you can SKIP the track if you wish. I also like lastfm because it gives you a small biography of the artist you are searching for. It also gives you to buy songs or CD's of the music that you are listening to.

LALA.com was my second favorite site except for the fact that the music did not play continuously, you had to pick each song individually. However, the artist chosen was the only one displayed (which I like better). Lala gave the listener the option to buy, and share the music.

Grooveshark.com was by far my most favorite site to get music. You can search by songs, album, or artist. The site gives you just music from what you search, not junk like the other sites. But what I really like about the site is that you can create your own play list that will play continuously, and only the songs you choose.

SUMMARY
All of the online radio players had some similarities with related artist, but there were also some differences. Grooveshark.com seemed to be the most different when it came to related artist. The artist Lil Wayne seemed to have the widest range of related artist within all of the players. And all of Kelly Clarkson's related artists were mostly the same.

Excercise 1.
YouTube.com
Youtube.com is a good site to watch clips that are homemade. The video plays in no time at all and did not buffer in the middle of the video. The sound and video quality are not that great because anyone can upload videos onto this site. While viewing the video you can choose to watch it in 3 different screen sizes from small, medium, and full screen. Youtube.com also gives you the option to post vides directly onto facebook, twitter, or myspace. Youtube gives the viewer suggestions of other videos to watch. It also gives the viewer the option to sign up for the site for additional perks like viewing mature content, and subscribing to a person's videos. On youtube you can search for videos by channels, shows, and categories. However, youtube does not show full TV shows and movies like other sites can do. Youtube also has an option to embed a video onto another site, and gives you many options on how you want to do it.

veoh.com
Veoh.com is a good site for viewing TV shows, TV show clips, and older movies. There no homemade videos to view on this site like on youtube. When viewing a video there is a short delay while the video loads, and short commercials that play before the video, and if you are watching a full TV show or movie there are commercials that come on and interrupt the show periodically. You can search for videos on this site by genera, network, or by just typing the correct name of the show in the search box. Like youtube you can also create a username and password for additional perks.

Hulu.com
Hulu.com is like veoh.com, you can only watch TV shows and clips.
However, hulu does not allow you to watch movies. To view shows intended for older audiences you must have a username and password. You do not have to wait for a show to buffer, but there are short commercials that interrupt TV shows periodically. Hulu gives you options to share videos on myspace, facebook, and twitter. You can also embed videos onto sites. Hulu gives the viewer many viewing options like the size of the screen, brightness of picture, and even the option to watch in high resolution. You can browse shows by category, channels, and popularity. When it comes to watching TV shows i prefer hulu over veoh because of the options and ease of use.

Excercise 2.

Here is the Hulu.com embedded video. Embedding a video from hulu.com is very easy. You click on the video to watch is and right to the side of the video is the option to embed the video. You would click the embed option, and then it tells you to just copy and paste this code onto your page or blog, and from there it works. However, on some videos you want to watch hulu will redirect you to another page (like comedy central below) and you have to find the embedding option on the page that hulu redirects you to.
The Daily Show With Jon StewartMon - Thurs 11p / 10c
Net Neutrality Act
www.thedailyshow.com
Daily Show

Political HumorHealth Care Crisis

Here is the Youtube.com embedded video. Embedding a video from youtube.com was also very easy. to the left of the video it gives you the code to copy and paste onto your site to embed a video. However, there are also options to customize your video. You are given the option to make the screen bigger, and add a colorful border on your video that you want to post. You are also given the option to put privacy settings onto the video.

Veoh did not have an option to embed a video. However, here is the link to view a clip of a t.v show with someone way different than me. This site would not let you embed a video, but it did give you options to share this video on myspace, twitter, and facebook.
